Biography
Andy Lau ranks among Hong Kong's foremost cinema figures while also standing out as a top Cantopop vocalist, with a multi-decade run that produced successful recordings in both Cantonese and Mandarin. He entered the world in Hong Kong on September 27, 1961. Breakthrough visibility arrived in 1982 through the lead part in the TVB series Hunting, which paved the way for his starring turn the next year in the small-screen version of the celebrated wuxia novel The Return of the Condor Heroes. Cantopop work began with his 1985 debut, and after establishing himself in that arena he moved into the Mandarin market in 1990. Peak popularity arrived during the 1990s, when he issued at least one album annually in each language, and the momentum extended well into the 21st century.
