Biography
In 2013, Brooklyn outfit Gingerlys came together around a sound built on jangle, cascading echo, and sunshiny hooks. Guitarist Matt Richards initially recorded a handful of acoustic demos that developed into the Jumprope EP, released on 7" vinyl by Shelflife Records in 2014. The founding lineup comprised Richards, singer/keyboardist Jackie Mendoza, lead guitarist Colin O'Neill, bass player Kevin Doxsey, and drummer Brian Alvarez. After maintaining a consistent schedule of performances throughout the New York City area, the quintet headed back into the studio with Connor Hanwick (the Drums, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart). Their first full-length album, Gingerlys, appeared in November 2017 via a co-release from Topshelf Records and Babe City Records.
