Haiku Hands formed in 2017 as an Australian alt-pop performance trio whose sound fuses striking vocal lines with propulsive rhythms and catchy low-end grooves. Their singular tracks fluidly cross electro-pop, contemporary dance, and house, evidenced by early releases such as the 2017 single “Not About You” and the 2019 track “Dare You Not to Dance.”

The lineup consists of Sydney-born sisters Claire and Mie Nakazawa together with Melbourne-based Beatrice Lewis. The three first connected through repeated encounters at Australian festivals, after which they began writing material and adopted the name Haiku Hands—using “Haiku” to evoke their conceptual imagery and lyrical focus while “Hands” signals the cooperative spirit of both collective and solo endeavors. Subsequent collaborations involved the hip-hop collective True Vibenation along with producers Jaytee Hazard and Lewis Can Cut. Across the following three years the group issued further singles including “Jupiter,” “Manbitch,” and “Onset,” all of which were later collected on the self-titled debut album that appeared in 2020.
