Biography
Hail of Bullets came together as a Dutch death metal ensemble in Amersfoort, Holland during 2006, sparked by an intense drinking session involving former Pestilence/Asphyx vocalist Martin van Drunen, ex-Houwitser bassist Theo van Eekelen, Gorefest drummer Ed Warby, and Thanatos guitar players Paul Baayens and Stephan Gebédi. The group secured a deal with Metal Blade the next year after submitting a four-song demo. Their debut full-length, Of Frost and War, surfaced in 2008 and prompted references to early death metal pioneers such as Celtic Frost, Death, and Bolt Thrower. In 2010 they released the follow-up On Divine Winds. The war-loving Dutchmen then centered their third album, III: The Rommel Chronicles, on the ascent and decline of German officer Erwin Rommel.
