Known as both a devoted collector of vinyl and a creator of house music, Hunee, whose real name is Hun Choi, weaves together profound and bright rhythmic patterns that pay homage to the house sounds originating from Chicago and Detroit, alongside elements drawn from disco, jazz, and dub. His 2015 full-length Hunch Music, together with assorted singles, features open-ended house constructions that incorporate unusual samples alongside rough-hewn melodic lines. His reputation as a DJ stands on equal footing, where he excels at locating shared connections across widely varied selections of records, a breadth illustrated by the 2018 unmixed compilation Hunchin' All Night.

Choi spent his early years in Bochum, West Germany, before relocating to Berlin at the age of 19. Employment at a local record store soon led him to establish a presence behind the decks, after which he began producing his own material. His first vinyl releases appeared in 2009 as a run of 12"s issued on labels including Internasjonal and W.T. Records. In 2010 the Amsterdam-based dance imprint Rush Hour added Hunee to its roster and issued the Bobos Alone in Paradise EP, followed in 2012 by the single "Tide"/"Minnoch." A short period spent in Los Angeles allowed him to complete work on his debut album before he settled in Amsterdam. Rush Hour brought out that debut full-length, Hunch Music, in June 2015. The following year saw the release of a 12" containing Hunch Music Remixes by Mick Wills and DJ Fett Burger. Rush Hour issued Hunchin' All Night in 2018, an unmixed collection of disco, techno, house, and African tracks chosen by Hunee.
