Biography
Imminence hails from Sweden and forges a distinctive alternative metalcore identity by merging the intensity and precision of extreme metal with symphonic string arrangements and expansive pop-inspired melodies. This approach is evident in confident releases such as Turn the Light On from 2019 and The Black, issued in 2024.
The ensemble came together in Trelleborg during 2009, featuring Eddie Berg on vocals and violin alongside Harald Barrett handling guitar and backing vocals, Alex Arnoldsson also on guitar, Peter Hanström at the drums, and Christian Höijer on bass. Their initial recording, the independently produced EP Born of Sirus, appeared in 2012.
Victory Records' subsidiary We Are Triumphant took notice and put out the Return to Helios EP in 2013 followed by the complete album I two years later. Shifting to Arising Empire set the stage for This Is Goodbye in 2017, marking the point where their fusion of arena rock and metalcore began to take shape. They refined this approach further with the well-received Turn the Light On in 2019.
Heaven in Hiding arrived in 2021, adhering to a comparable approach and reflecting the passionate intensity found in similar acts including Architects and Currents. In contrast, the dramatic The Black from 2024 highlighted their symphonic elements through a bold collection built around djent-driven guitar work, evocative string passages, and progressive metal enhanced by choral vocals.
