Biography
New York death metal outfit Internal Bleeding came together in 1991, its brief first roster featuring guitarist Chris Pervelis alongside bassist Tom Slobowski, vocalist Brian Richards, drummer Bill Tolley, and guitarist Anthony Miola. Slobowski and Richards soon gave way to John Colucco and Eric Wigger. Once the group tracked an initial demo, further upheaval followed as Wallace Milton assumed lead vocals and Brian Hobbie took the bass position. The small Wild Rags imprint put out the second demo, Invocation of Evil, in 1993; Milton then exited, prompting Tolley to handle vocals on a temporary basis for the 1994 EP Perpetual Degradation. Frank Rini eventually filled the vocalist role on a permanent basis, and the band’s appearance at the 1994 Milwaukee Metalfest secured a contract with Pavement Records. Voracious Contempt, their first album to receive national distribution, surfaced in 1995 and earned underground metal attention. After the 1997 follow-up The Extinction of Benevolence, additional changes took place when Ray Lebron replaced Rini and Guy Marchais (ex-Pyrexia) stepped in for Miola. The revamped lineup delivered the third album, Driven to Conquer, in 1999.
