Biography
Deeds of Flesh emerged in 1993 from the quiet central-coast community of Los Osos, California, as a genuine expression of American death metal. Within three months the band issued its debut recording, Gradually Melted, through assorted independent labels across multiple countries. The release attracted Repulse Records, which signed the group in 1996. Despite persistent difficulty sustaining a complete lineup, founding members Erik Lindmark (guitar and vocals) and Jacoby Kingston (bass and vocals) have kept issuing forceful albums and retaining a devoted audience. Lineup instability grew so acute around the turn of the century that Mark of the Legion was recorded as a trio, with Lindmark performing both lead and rhythm guitar parts. For the 2002 tour supporting that album, the band intends to add another guitarist.
