JakoJako moves freely across electronic styles from ambient to techno, yet her productions stand apart through consistent use of modular synthesizers that she herself designs and refines. This hands-on method opened distinctive doors early in her rise, including a residency at Berghain in Berlin and a 2023 signing to NovaMute, the dance-oriented imprint of the historic British label Mute Records.

Born Sibel Jacqueline Koçer in Turkey, she relocated frequently during childhood while shifting among fleeting pursuits. Piano lessons replaced an initial wish to play guitar, and school activities ranged from athletics to dance. Relocating to Berlin for nursing studies, she discovered a lasting focus in building and tailoring modular synthesizers—analog-to-digital instruments first popularized by Moog and Roland during the 1960s and 1970s, though later sustained mainly by enthusiasts.

Her persistent refinement of these instruments drew industry attention. Leisure System released her debut EP, Aequilibration, in 2019 and later issued the follow-up Lux in 2021. After the ambient full-length Metamorphose appeared, she secured the Berghain residency. Further projects included the 2022 collaboration In Vere with fellow German techno artist Rødhåd and the 2023 joint release Atlas der Gedanken with Mareena. On the solo front, two years after delivering a remix of New Order’s “Be a Rebel” for Mute, she joined NovaMute—home to Depeche Mode, Erasure, Moby, and Yazoo—and issued the EPs Verve in 2023 and Segmente in 2024.
