Biography
Born James Ray Elkins in 1991, rapper Jamie Ray grew up in Winter Haven, Florida and first picked up the mic at age twelve. By his early twenties he was uploading tracks to the web, steering away from the occasional R&B touches that marked his previous material and toward a harder-edged rap approach. He dropped the mixtape Creepin' on the Rise in 2016, then scored a breakthrough the following year with the single “16,” which featured YoungBoy Never Broke Again. The track landed on his Castles in the Air mixtape, released through Good Money Global. Jamie Ray continued the momentum in January 2018 by issuing the single “How It Go” with Lil Baby.
