Biography
In 2011 the six-piece indie folk band Jared & the Mill assembled in Phoenix, Arizona, under the leadership of singer/songwriter Jared Kolesar. Alongside Michael Carter, Larry Gast III, Chuck Morriss III, Josh Morin, and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, Kolesar shaped a rich acoustic sound that contrasted big-hearted Lumineers-style folk-rock with the broad, arid terrain of their home region in the Southwest. Following a period of local performances, the group issued its debut album, Western Expansion, in 2013. Continued road work brought shared bills nationwide with Zac Brown Band, Horse Feathers, and the Killers. In 2015 the band returned with the EP Life We Chose.
