Biography
Mikey Melas records and performs as Jensen Interceptor, an Australian electro DJ and producer whose influences span Detroit electro, Miami bass, Italo disco, EBM, and further strains of high-impact dance music. Across dozens of EPs plus the 2018 full-length Mother, he has shaped dark techno and icy electro that combine raw edges with polished execution. He often works alongside Assembler Code, and the pair jointly helm the International Chrome imprint. Additional credits include the Hacker on Trigger Zone (2018), DJ Deeon on Master Control Program (2021), DeFeKT on Free Your Mind (2022), and other projects.
Melas took part in the short-lived group Australia, whose 2011 single “Sydney on Acid” appeared on Twin Turbo. The follow-up, “Techno Music 2013,” came out on Motorik!, the same label that issued his earliest Jensen Interceptor EPs. Subsequent digital releases surfaced on BNR Trax and Space Factory as his focus moved from techno toward electro; his first vinyl outing, the 2016 EP M, emerged on Central Processing Unit, which then put out Carter’s Green Factory the next year. With Brendon Zacharias (Assembler Code) he also issued house material as Anthony Fade, while the two continued producing electro under their primary aliases, beginning with the Boysnoize release 6th Element. They founded International Chrome, whose debut was the 2018 Jensen Interceptor–Hacker collaboration Trigger Zone. Later that year Lone Romantic released Mother, Jensen Interceptor’s first album, while additional EPs appeared on E-Beamz and Cultivated Electronics.
Craigie Knowes issued the Drexciya-inspired The Ultimate Wave Riding Vehicle in 2019. Other 2019 titles included the split EP Code Three with Sync 24 and several Assembler Code joint efforts, among them Dance Trax Vol. 19 on Unknown to the Unknown. Pinkman put out the slower, New Beat-tinged Strings of Fear, and Jensen Interceptor appeared on DeFeKT’s Mind Lock EP. In 2021 he teamed with Volruptus for Big Bang Energy and with Chicago house veteran DJ Deeon for Master Control Program. The 2022 schedule brought the ghettotech EP Club Angels (UTTU) with DJ Fuckoff and the Tresor release Free Your Mind, again with DeFeKT.
