Jhyve

Born in Toronto as Jamaal Desmond Bowry, the singer, rapper, and producer known as Jhyve first surfaced in 2011 with Strangely Familiar, an album that openly displayed his R&B, rap, and rock leanings. That early release, paired with its 2013 follow-up Supermegafutureshit, neatly traced the artist’s rapid artistic shift. Collaboration with producer Soul helped consolidate those varied influences into a distinctive personal style, resulting in an album that resonated with admirers of both Prince and Frank Ocean. Jhyve then issued the more conceptually driven LP The Heartbreak Experience in 2016 through the Awesome Music imprint.
