Biography
San Diegan bass music artist Jonny Z. launched his performing career during the early '90s. His initial breakthrough arrived in 1993 via the Quality Records single "Shake-Shake," which climbed into the Top 40 on Billboard's dance chart. Success continued with the self-titled 1996 debut album that delivered three additional Top 40 dance-chart singles: "No Señor," "Mamacita," and "Latin Swing." The 1998 follow-up Z 1 N Only came next, after which Jonny Z. moved to the One Love imprint for his third album, 1999's Sancho Villa. He joined Thump Records the next year and issued his fourth album, Bass Balla, featuring guest work by Tequila Mission, the South Park Mexican, and ODM from a Lighter Shade of Brown alongside other stylistically aligned artists.
