Biography
Los Angeles-based hardcore foursome Jughead's Revenge, later operating as Jugg's Revenge once Archie Comics pursued legal action over the original name, have turned out their fast-paced punk material at intervals since 1989. Early recordings appeared on the band-run Hard label, among them the debut full-length Unstuck in Time. The follow-up early album It's Lonely at the Bottom received a 1994 reissue on BYO Records, the domestic imprint that became their preferred home for several subsequent years. With singer Joe Doherty, guitarist Joey Rimicci, bassist Brian Preiss, and drummer Jarrod Thornton in place, the group issued multiple BYO titles, including 1993's Elimination and 1995's 13 Kiddie Favorites, all holding to a straightforward punk approach untouched by the glam rock then prevalent in Los Angeles. The band moved to Nitro Records in 1996, which put out Image Is Everything that year and Pearly Gates in 1999, the latter arriving just before the Archie Comics lawsuit reached its end. A farewell tour ran through late 2000 and early 2001 ahead of the breakup, though the members reconvened in 2009 to mark the twentieth anniversary.
