Biography
Keita Sano, a highly active Japanese producer, crafts material that spans bright disco-house and abrasive lo-fi techno while also exploring glitch-hop and jungle on occasion. Based in Okayama, the artist initially worked in jazz before moving into electronic music, favoring studio production over DJ sets. Several EPs surfaced online during 2012, followed by the self-titled debut album on Strictly Groove Recordings at the start of 2013. By 2014 his material was appearing on club decks, most notably the raw techno cut “People Are Changing,” issued by Mister Saturday Night and noticed by outlets including Resident Advisor. Canadian imprint 1080p put out Holding New Cards in 2015, a seventy-minute cassette that collected some of Sano’s boldest work yet. Additional 12-inch singles and EPs continued to surface on more than a dozen further labels, among them Holic Trax, Rett I Fletta—which also handled another self-titled full-length—and Sheik ’N’ Beik Records.
