Biography
Canadian-born R&B vocalist Keshia Chanté specializes in sultry and catchy contemporary pop and soul. Chanté, born in 1988, launched her music career near the age of 15, achieving early success through the chart-topping singles "Shook (The Answer)," "Unpredictable," and "Bad Boy," each of which appeared on her 2004 self-titled debut album. In the same year she collected multiple Urban Music Awards while her video for "Bad Boy" gained substantial airplay on the U.S. television network BET. These honors, combined with her receipt of the 2005 JUNO Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, drew the notice of Sony record executives and prompted them to offer her a recording contract. Chanté then moved from Toronto to New York City, where she commenced recording her sophomore album, 2U, which appeared in Canada during 2006 and reached the U.S. the following year. She resurfaced in 2011 with the two-disc third studio album Night & Day, which included the singles "Table Dancer" and "Test Drive."
