Biography
Emerging in 2019, British singer/songwriter Brunswick introduced an atmospheric, gothy fusion of rock, R&B, and trap anchored by his yearning, breathy vocals, a style first captured on the mixtape We Surround Ourselves with Chaos.
Born in Ealing in West London, he began uploading moody tracks inflected with goth and R&B elements at the age of 19. Around 2017 he quit college, after which his family evicted him; he then spent time sleeping at London's Strongroom studios before moving to Brighton.
Caught up in the city's music and club circuit, Brunswick absorbed electronic acts while reconnecting with a range of 1990s rock bands stretching from the Stone Roses to Nirvana. He soon began recording at home, pairing guitar-written material with laptop productions in a hybrid he called "rhythm and grunge." After posting the songs online he steadily built an audience, and his style continued to shift as R&B, goth, trap, and electro influences took hold.
