Kobra And The Lotus

Kobra Paige, a Canadian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and classically trained vocalist, launched the Calgary-based heavy metal band Kobra and the Lotus in 2009. The group concentrates on traditional, hard-hitting hard rock shaped by New Wave of British Heavy Metal influences. Their debut collection Out of the Pit appeared independently and soon drew the interest of Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, who arranged a Universal recording contract. The self-titled major-label album followed in 2012, prompting an extended touring cycle that placed the band onstage with Judas Priest and Slash. Their third studio release, the Johnny K-produced High Priestess, surfaced in 2014 and preceded a North American run supporting Kiss and Def Leppard. The covers EP Words of the Prophets arrived the next year. In March 2017 the band issued the opening half of the ambitious, largely crowdfunded double album Prevail on Napalm Records. Prevail II reached stores in May 2018 and received a Juno Award nomination for Metal/Hard Album of the Year. The group then partnered with producer Michael Baskette on its sixth full-length, Evolution, which appeared in 2019.
