Biography
Koxie entered the world as Laure Cohen in 1977. Her path through the arts encompassed dance training, the establishment of a personal academy for creative instruction, and a stint as a disc jockey at one of France’s leading commercial radio outlets. Notice arrived chiefly via repeated streams of “Garçon” posted on her MySpace profile, eclipsing those earlier credentials. The recording revealed a strong fixation on hip-hop and included an infectious refrain that secured extensive broadcast exposure, rising to hit-single status in 2007 and driving sharp increases in purchases of her debut LP even after rights conflicts forced removal of the original pressing from circulation.
