Lalaine, widely recognized for portraying Miranda Sanchez—the loyal companion to the lead character on The Lizzie McGuire Show—became the second performer from that series to pursue a music career alongside her acting and dancing. Her stage work started young, highlighted by a national tour of Les Miserables at the age of nine. Acting soon took priority, with early commercial spots and an appearance in the clip for Tom Petty’s “Walls” opening the door to a part among the orphans in Disney’s cinematic adaptation of Annie.

Securing the Miranda Sanchez role followed, and her vocal contribution to one episode prompted Disney executives to cast her in the lead of the channel’s You Wish, where she also delivered the theme song. The soundtrack for Pixel Perfect later included her next release, “If You Wanna Rock,” while she fronted a Radio Disney outing and contributed a rendition of “Cruella De Vil” to Disneymania, Vol. 3. Expanding past the Disney sphere, she took on guest work in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, joined the cast of the Filipino program FlipSide, and signed with Warner Bros. for her first album, produced by Rob Cavallo, whose prior credits encompass Green Day and Alanis Morissette.
