Lars Lilholt

Since the dawn of the 1970s, Lars Lilholt has shaped Denmark’s folk landscape as a vocalist, violinist, bandleader, and composer. He first appeared with the folk-rock outfit Kræn Bysteds before assuming leadership of the enduring Lars Lilholt Band. The Herlev native has maintained a remarkably productive solo trajectory that remains vital into the 2020s, generating numerous chart-topping albums and singles; the most celebrated of these is the heartfelt “Kald det kærlighed,” the standout track from his 1986 LP Portland. His abilities receive additional exposure through recordings and performances with the Danish supergroup Dalton, where he works alongside Johnny Madsen and Allan Olsen.
