Michael Falch ranks among Denmark's foremost musical figures, having first attained widespread recognition in the 1980s as frontman of the band Malurt. Following the group's unofficial pause in 1994, he maintained a solo trajectory that soon encompassed acting roles and book authorship. Although he rejoined a reconstituted Malurt and collaborated with Boat Man Love in the late 2000s, Falch continued to reach the summit of Danish charts well into the 2020s through albums such as Forar/Brystet and Elsker.

Born on September 16, 1956, in Koge, Falch passed much of his youth in successive relocations. He obtained his first guitar at age ten and began composing songs as a teenager in Tonder. Within a short time he joined a band assembled by Mathias "Kylle" Petersen. By the close of the 1970s he had formed Malurt alongside guitarist Christian Arendt and drummer Peter Mors.

Early in the 1980s Malurt secured Falch's first of numerous hits via the album Vindueskigger. The breakthrough yielded an acting opportunity in 1983, yet the band's existence proved short-lived and effectively ended by late 1984. His self-titled debut solo album appeared in 1985, after which he issued more than ten full-length recordings over the following two decades. In parallel, Falch performed in four additional films, published two books, and teamed with Pete Repete in 1990. That same year brought a one-off Malurt reunion at the Roskilde Festival.

The group remained active through the early 1990s before entering hiatus. After concentrating on acting—most notably portraying Jan Boysen in the early-2000s series Unit One—Falch resumed solo work at the beginning of 2002, reunited with Malurt for a 25th-anniversary tour in 2005, and aligned with Boat Man Love in 2006.

Boat Man Love produced three albums: Sang til Undren, which reached number nine on the Denmark charts in 2007; I Kampens Hede (2008); and Fredagsrock 2011 (2011). During this period Falch also released the 2010 live recording Live Akustik alongside Poul Krebs.

Falch sustained his prominence into the 2020s, regularly occupying top positions on Danish charts with releases such as Sommeren Kom Ny Tilbage (2013), Handen Pa Hjertet: De Storste Sange (2014), Forar I Brystet (2020), and Elsker (2021).
