A Danish singer, composer, and instrumentalist, Poul Krebs issued his debut album Efter Stormen in 1979. Over the ensuing four decades he maintained an active recording career that produced more than twenty albums, many of which reached the summit of the Danish charts. His music moved fluidly across rock, pop, and folk idioms.

Born in Aarhus in 1956, Krebs had first distinguished himself as a skilled handball athlete before redirecting his energies toward music toward the close of the 1970s. The Greg Walsh-produced Fri Som Et Forår brought his initial major commercial breakthrough in 1990. Five years later came the blockbuster Små Sensationer, which included the chart-topping single “Sådan Nogle Som Os” and earned him five Danish Grammy Award nominations. The ensuing visibility led to joint projects such as De Tre Tenorer alongside Steffen Brandt and Michael Falch, as well as concerts beyond Denmark’s borders in Greenland, France, and the United States. In 2004 he delivered the live set På en God Dag; two further successes followed with the 2006 studio album Ku Den Næste Dans Blive Min? and the retrospective box set Signatur, which entered the Top Five early in 2008. Krebs sustained his momentum through the next decade, securing number-one positions with Asfalt in 2014 and Maleren Og Delfinerne På Bugten in 2017. Into the 2020s he continued to enjoy both sales and acclaim, releasing Sange Til Natten in 2022 and the concert recording Sidste Sommer (Live Fra Friheden) the following year.
