Hungarian vocalist Linda Király entered the world in New York City during 1983 and built a reputation as a performer drawn to pop and R&B. As the daughter of musicians Tamas and Linda Kiraly, she spent her childhood immersed in music and, while still in her early teens, began studies at the BOCES cultural arts center. When Király turned 14 her mother received an ovarian cancer diagnosis, prompting the family’s return to Hungary. There she gained admission to the Liszt Ference Academy of Music and trained in opera under singer Erzsébet Komlóssy. During the same period she joined a local funk and R&B band for club performances and was later selected to record the theme song for the popular Hungarian film Szerelem Utolsó Vérig. The track became a hit and introduced Király to a wider audience. In 2003 she issued her first album, #1, and that year secured the part of Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. The resulting acclaim took her to London for work and eventually drew her back to the United States, where she started preparing a new pop album. Her self-titled U.S. debut is scheduled for release in 2008.
