Biography
Long Island native Davey Jones helms New York’s Lost Boy ?, channeling a deep appreciation for 1990s indie and alternative rock into projects that connected with listeners through the 2011 album USA USA and the 2015 LP Canned.
What began in the late 2000s as a bedroom endeavor found Jones relying on inexpensive gear to generate material at a rapid pace, issuing his own singles, cassettes, and CDs and steadily building recognition during those early years. The 2011 release USA USA drew favorable press attention, prompting expanded touring with an ever-changing roster of supporting players. Jones’s 2012 decision to play guitar in Baked temporarily reduced Lost Boy ? activity. The Exploding in Sound label issued the Wasted EP in 2014, by which point Jones had assembled a permanent lineup featuring Ryan Foster on guitar, RJ Gordon on bass, and Matt Gaffney on drums. That same group tracked the Canned LP, which PaperCup Records put out in early 2015. A year afterward Jones returned to a solo Lost Boy ? format for Goose Wazoo, this time on Little Dickman Records. Working alongside Shea Stadium co-founder Adam Reich, he shaped 2018’s Paranoid Fiction around the raw rock and punk legacies of both New York and Los Angeles.
