Biography
Simon Raymonde, previously a member of Cocteau Twins, joined forces with drummer Richard Thomas of Dif Juz and the Jesus and Mary Chain to create Lost Horizons, an outfit that draws on numerous guest vocalists drawn from indie circles. Their music shapes an atmospheric, restrained brand of indie rock that merges dance-rock textures with folk-inflected songwriting in the vein of David Bowie. The project’s first effort, a fifteen-track set titled Ojalá, emerged in 2017.
That opening album enlisted nearly one vocalist per song, bringing in Marissa Nadler, Tim Smith of Midlake, and Ghostpoet. Ojalá reached listeners in November 2017 through Bella Union, the label Raymonde established and which marked its twentieth anniversary at the time. The follow-up, 2020’s In Quiet Moments, arrived as a sixteen-song collection in February 2021 and again welcomed an array of singers, among them John Grant, Ren Harvieu, C Duncan, Porridge Radio, plus returning contributors Tim Smith and Marissa Nadler.
