Biography
Hailing from North London, Louis Dunford has forged a path through heartfelt tributes to the city he cherishes, weaving together pop, folk, indie, and poetic threads. His first release arrived in 2021 as the EP The Morland, after which he put out multiple singles such as the Arsenal FC anthem “The Angel (North London Forever)” before unveiling his debut full-length album, Be Lucky, in 2025.
Camden-born Dunford spent his childhood in the northern reaches of the capital, where his mother, British television regular Linda Robson, provided early ties to the entertainment world. During his teenage years he took up the piano and began composing poetry and songs that documented his surroundings while helping him process the stabbing death of school friend Ben Kinsella. In 2014, the late Jamal Edwards discovered him after Dunford posted the track “When We Were Hooligans” online. Songs originally written for friends about their shared North London upbringing soon found a wider audience, leading to the 2021 release of The Morland, an EP that recounted stories from the Morland housing estate. After signing with Sony Music he ended that year with a cover of East 17’s holiday classic “Stay Another Day.” The following year brought the EP The Popham, which included “The Angel (North London Forever),” an ode to the Islington neighborhood of his youth that later became a staple for pre-match crowds at Arsenal FC’s stadium. He kept writing and performing through the ensuing period, issuing Live from Hammersmith in early 2024. Fresh tracks surfaced midway through that year—“The Local,” a celebration of pub life, along with “Billy Flynn of Bethnal Green” and “Superman”—setting the stage for Be Lucky, his first studio album, which appeared in 2025.
