In the closing months of 2015, the enigmatic British four-piece Loyal surfaced via their first offering, "Blue & the Green," an introspective and moody piece of indie R&B characterized by its subdued tempo and ethereal qualities. Issued through the Good Years imprint, this release offered no details regarding the personnel or origins of the act, aside from noting their collective appreciation for disco, the music of Kate Bush, and Stanley Kubrick's cinematic works. The follow-up, "House for You," surfaced the next February and maintained the deliberate, melancholic vibe established earlier. By the initial part of 2017, "Moving as One" emerged as their third single, shifting toward a grander, more accessible pop aesthetic. Around the time "Tower Over All" came out in March of that year as the fourth single, the quartet started participating in structured interviews, disclosing the members as Alex Cowan, Beth Molly Moore, Jimmy Day, and Laurence Allen, while also commencing live performances.
