The pop-country outfit Lucy Angel maintains a distinctly familial lineup, with Kate Anderton serving as the mother of bandmates Emily Anderton and Lindsay Anderton. An admirer of Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette from an early age, Kate first performed publicly at four and later participated in a college vocal ensemble that introduced her to Doug Anderton, who would become both her husband and manager. Persuaded of her star potential, Doug placed her in a televised talent competition, prompting Kate to pursue music professionally. Lindsay likewise revealed an early gift for singing at four and began appearing onstage with her mother; by twelve she had entered a vocal group alongside Kate. Seeking greater opportunity, the family relocated from Arizona to Nashville in 2003. Although Emily initially showed no inclination toward singing, exposure to her mother and sister eventually drew her in, completing the trio that took the name Lucy Angel. The group made its first public appearance in 2004 as the opening act for Neal McCoy and soon established a busy touring schedule throughout the South while also performing at country events in Japan and Switzerland. In 2009 the act traveled twice to China, becoming the first American country ensemble invited to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Lucy Angel issued a self-titled five-song EP on its own G-Force imprint in 2010, followed by the 2011 Christmas single “Mr. Santa.” Early in 2015, G-Force partnered with New Revolution to release the band’s self-titled debut album, which featured the single “Crazy Too.” Around the same period, the members starred in the reality series Discovering Lucy Angel, which premiered on AXS-TV on January 13, 2015.
