Biography
In 2013, folk-pop singer/songwriter Madi Davis released her first single, "Child's Heart," while still just 14 years old. Hailing from McKinney, Texas, she displayed a commanding voice and seasoned refinement from the start, even as the rustic, reflective material on her follow-up project, 2014's Madi Anne Davis, seemed to contradict her youth. After earning a spot on Season 9 of NBC's The Voice through a successful audition, she charted a notable course that carried her into the semi-finals by September 2015. A moody, piano-driven interpretation of Cyndi Lauper's 1983 classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" unexpectedly caught on, landing on the Billboard Hot 100 in late November. Beyond the widespread attention from her stint on the program, 2015 also brought the arrival of her second EP, the more elaborately crafted What I Know.
