Biography
Born in Palma de Mallorca to parents of Andalusian and Macedonian lineage, Maika Makovski works across multiple disciplines as a singer, songwriter, actress, and visual artist. Her first album, Kradiaw, reached listeners in 2005, with the follow-up Kraj So Koferot arriving in 2007. The dark, arty character of her songs quickly established her as an indie rock figurehead inside Spain’s and Europe’s underground communities, a standing reinforced when John Parish (PJ Harvey, Eels) summoned her to his Bristol studio to cut the 2010 third album Maika Makovski. Thank You for the Boots appeared two years afterward.
