An extreme metal ensemble hailing from Austin, Texas and known for its punishing intensity, Mammoth Grinder draws on musicians currently or previously affiliated with Power Trip, Iron Reagan, and Darkest Hour. The band merges unadorned death metal with punk energy rooted in crossover traditions, a combination documented on the 2013 release Underworlds, the 2018 album Cosmic Crypt, and the Undying Spectral Resonance EP from 2024.

Mark Bronzino, Ryan Parrish, and Chris Ulsh formed the project in 2005 and first circulated their material through hardcore punk and sludge metal channels before sharpening it into a compact death metal and hardcore configuration. Their initial full-length, Rage and Ruin, surfaced independently in 2008 and emphasized an intense, unrelenting character; Extinction of Humanity arrived the following year and reinforced their profile within extreme metal circles. Following Underworlds, the group entered a brief hiatus before resurfacing in 2018 with Cosmic Crypt, their first release on Relapse Records and one that drew widespread critical acclaim.

Numerous lineup adjustments preceded the 2024 Undying Spectral Resonance EP. Co-founder Chris Ulsh performed every instrument and supplied all vocals on the recording, after which he assembled a live roster featuring longtime drummer Ryan Parrish, guitarist Sebastian Phillips of Noisem and Exhumed, and bassist Andy Horn from Loud Night.
