Xibalba

Xibalba emerged from Pomona, California, as a bilingual hardcore outfit whose name draws from the Mayan mythological underworld. The group blends punishing strains of death metal, doom metal, and classic American hardcore, a style it has pursued since its formation in 2007 by Nate Rebolledo, Brian Ortiz, Jason Brunes, and Bryan Valdivia. Its first album, Madre Mia Gracias por los Dias, appeared independently in 2010 before Southern Lord reissued the recording the next year. That same label issued the band’s second full-length effort, Hasta la Muerte, in 2012, at which point Jensen Hucle and Miguel Salazar joined the lineup. Tierra y Libertad followed as the third studio album in 2015, with the EP Diablo, con Amor... Adios arriving two years later.
