Dead in the Dirt

Formed in Atlanta during December 2008, the grindcore band Dead in the Dirt began when guitarist and vocalist Blake Connally assembled the project and supplied lyrics throughout its catalog. Drummer Hank Pratt and bassist/vocalist Bo Orr completed the lineup, with the latter also creating artwork for every release. The group’s opening recording, the 2010 EP Vold, delivered rapid bursts of ultra-violent grindcore carrying black metal undercurrents. Fear followed in 2011. After signing with Southern Lord Records, the trio prepared its first full-length, The Blind Hole, issued in 2013; the album’s twenty-two tracks ran under thirty minutes in total.
