Cloud Rat

Cloud Rat is a high-volume, politically driven grindcore-punk trio rooted in the mid-Michigan college town of Mt. Pleasant. Its sound recalls the frantic, high-speed barrage associated with Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. The group formed in 2010 around frontwoman Madison Marshall, guitarist Rorik Brooks, and drummer Adrian Manges. Its stated sources of inspiration include anti-oppression, anti-discrimination, veganism, radical feminism, anarchism, paganism, and “other relevant-isms,” while the members maintain a strictly non-corporate D.I.Y. ethic across live performances, recording sessions, and releases. Since its inception the band has produced numerous split 7"s, cassettes, and LPs, among them the 2013 album Moksha and the 2015 release Qliphoth, which earned widespread critical praise and introduced the abrasive electronics contributed by newest member Brandon Hill.
