Biography
Drawing from the intense, purifying anger that fueled groups such as Napalm Death, Torch Runner strive to overwhelm audiences through their ferocious mix of grindcore and doom. Although these styles may seem like polar opposites within extreme metal, the group leverages the contrast between grind's intensity and doom's foreboding pace to disorient fans, leaving them uncertain about the source of the upcoming musical attack. Established in 2007, the three-piece consisting of bassist and vocalist Rob Turner, guitarist Scott Hughes, and drummer Josh Platt put out Locust Swarm via Communitas Records in 2010. Torch Runner later inked a deal with Southern Lord, issuing their next effort, Committed to the Ground, in 2014. The band's third record, the devastating Endless Nothing, came out later in that year.
