Marusha

German female DJ Marusha, who entered the world as Marusha Gleiss, first made her mark on the domestic electronica landscape in 1990 by spinning techno tracks on the radio program Dancehall—soon rebranded Rave Satellite—and by drawing in youthful viewers through her self-produced television showcase Feuerreiter. Following the 1994 singles “Ravechannel,” “Whatever Turns You,” and “Go Ahead,” she rose to prominence within Germany’s dance-music community upon unveiling a techno rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” an achievement that earned her the Viva Comet Award for Best Techno Act and the Echo Award for Best Local Female Artist the next year. Alongside the albums Raveland in 1994 and Wir in 1995, she began circling the globe to perform at flagship gatherings and rave spectacles including Mayday and Berlin’s Love Parade. Proton issued Nonstop in 2002 as the successor to her 1998 studio album No Hide No Run.
