The German Rolf Maier-Bode, born in March 1974, and the Iranian Farid Gharadjedaghi, born in May 1974, established the club- and dance-focused pair that first performed under the name Skyflyer during 1993 and issued its initial release as RMB Trax, Vol. 1. Following a shift from the independent Adam & Eve imprint to Spirit Records, RMB delivered its earliest Top 20 hit, the single “Redemption,” in August 1994. The tracks “Love Is an Ocean” and “Experience (Follow Me)” preceded the group’s first full-length effort, This World Is Yours, after which “Spring” emerged as its initial high-volume seller.

By 1997 Rolf Maier-Bode and Farid Gharadjedaghi had opened their own imprint, Various Music Recordings, together with an affiliated booking operation.
