Contemporary singer/songwriter Matt White delivers melodic vocals shaped by a taste for saucy, soulful adult alternative pop. Born in Englewood, NJ, he passed much of his early years moving through New York City and its surroundings. Classical music captured his attention while still a child; he began piano lessons at age three and attempted to compose his own opera not long afterward. His interests later shifted toward rock, prompting him to take up guitar during his studies at the University of Wisconsin. After earning his degree he headed back to N.Y.C., where street performances gradually led to formal appearances at Joe’s Pub, The Living Room, and additional local stages.

White emerged as a true product of the digital era: the combination of his growing local audience and a MySpace network exceeding 50,000 friends drew the notice of Geffen Records, which offered him a recording contract. The 2006 EP Bleeker Street Stories quickly built a substantial online following, ultimately moving more than 100,000 copies. His first full-length album, Best Days, appeared in 2007. Once extensive touring wrapped, he turned to new material, composing primarily at the piano. That effort yielded the 2010 release It’s the Good Crazy.
