Maya B first surfaced in 2017 with the release of “Kiss on My Neck,” a self-produced track whose assured, unconventional mix of dance-infused pop, hip-hop, and contemporary R&B drew immediate approval from DJ Khaled. Two years later she delivered her major-label introduction, the likewise self-produced “Selenas.”
A Los Angeles-based singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Maya B began composing at the age of six. In her late teens, after repeated recording sessions with outside collaborators failed to materialize, she took full production control of her material. Her self-released debut, the 2017 single “Kiss on My Neck,” was followed later that year by “River.” The tracks’ distinctive, genre-blurring appeal earned playlist placements on select Internet radio and streaming services, prompting Capitol to sign her in 2018. Early the following year she issued the Soulshock-co-produced single “Dollar to a Diamond.”
