Biography
Spanish pop/rock outfit Melocos built a noticeable audience through the networking platform elHood.com before securing a major-label agreement with Sony BMG and issuing their well-received self-titled debut album in 2007. Originating in Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, the lineup consists of Jaime Terrón on lead vocals, Gonzalo Alcina on lead guitar, Manu Jurado on rhythm guitar, Antonio Suárez on bass, and Andrés Ortiz on drums, each of them a college student aged 19 to 21 at the moment the record appeared. The musicians listed Pereza, Maná, Jaime Anglada, Los Secretos, Los Delinqüentes, Fito, and M-Clan among their influences. Pep's Records, an independent label, first noticed the group on elHood.com and later forged a joint venture with Sony BMG to expand its commercial reach. The track "Cada Golpe" was selected as the lead single, with "Cuando Me Vaya" serving as the follow-up.
