Biography
Miss Fortune came together in 2012 when Eddie Cano and Mikey Sawyer formed the group following their exits from prior projects—Scarlett O'Hara for Cano and Close Your Eyes for Sawyer. The post-hardcore outfit blends plaintive emo with driving metalcore to shape its emotionally charged style. After completing the roster by adding guitarists Josh Kikta and Harley Graves, bassist Ian Marchionda, and drummer Jason Connolly, the band parted ways with Cano, who had supplied the harsh vocals, in favor of pursuing a more melodic approach. Sawyer assumed lead vocal duties, allowing the group’s sonic identity to solidify, which led to a 2013 announcement that Miss Fortune had joined Sumerian Records. The label then released the band’s first full-length album, A Spark to Believe In, in 2014.
