In 2011, Berklee College of Music graduates Robert Edens on vocals, Myles Yang on bass, and Max Harchik on guitar launched the Boston-based progressive metal group Native Construct. Their sound merges searing art-metal with musical theater, jazz, and classical influences, evoking Between the Buried and Me, Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Coheed & Cambria, and Dream Theater. Between 2011 and 2013 the members developed material for their first album during spare hours between classes and on weekends. Those informal sessions eventually drew the notice of Metal Blade, which signed the band in early 2014 and scheduled the long-developing debut for release the following year. Quiet World, produced by the group itself and tracked at their Boston home studio—with vocals cut by Jamie King at Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina—appeared in April 2015.
