Biography
Oliver Malcolm, an eclectic left-field pop creator equipped with formidable production chops and a moody atmospheric sensibility, began his career through collaborations in Los Angeles before stepping out as a solo act in 2020 via tracks including “Outside” and “Switched Up.” The latter appeared on his debut EP, Are You Living in the Real World?, issued in 2021; a second EP, Act One, followed in 2022.
Although born in Sweden, Malcolm grew up in London, where a teenage fascination with DJ’ing gradually led him into production. Absorbing wide-ranging influences, he quickly matured into a versatile talent able to write, produce, sing, and rap, first building experience under the alias Bigg Kid. After relocating to Los Angeles he earned credits alongside MF Doom, IDK, and Joey Bada$$. At age 20 he judged himself ready to release his own material, launching with the entrancing “Switched Up” in early 2020. Subsequent singles arrived, among them the glitchy acoustic “Outside” and the bluesy groove-driven “Kevin,” the latter on Interscope. He opened 2021 with the brash and hooky “Skywalker,” featured on Are You Living in the Real World?, then delivered the vibrant “Rolling Stone” the next year. The punchier single “Baby Don’t Go” anchored his 2022 EP Act One.
