During the 2010s, Benjamin Keating, performing as the London-based producer and vocalist Palmistry, earned praise for fusing dancehall, alternative R&B, and grime in fresh ways. His atmospheric, introspective tracks weave contemporary Caribbean rhythms—shaped notably by Vybz Kartel and Popcaan—together with ambient synthesizer layers and Keating’s gentle, reflective vocals exploring isolation and emotional pain. Beyond issuing the solo albums Pagan in 2016 and Afterlife in 2019, he also handled production for both full-length projects by Vietnam-born rapper Vinh Soi Ngan, known as Triad God.

Palmistry first appeared in 2011 via the self-released EP Cut. The following year brought the mixtape I Swear and his work on NXB, Triad God’s debut album. Signing with Dre Skull’s Mixpak imprint in 2013, he launched his association there through the single “Catch.” The year 2014 saw the Lil Gem EP arrive on Lorenzo Senni’s Presto!? label, the Mixpak release “Protector SE5,” the self-issued EP Ascensión, and a collaboration with Sunless ’97 on the track “Aia.” In 2015 he issued the single “Memory Taffeta,” then followed with his first album, Pagan, in 2016. During 2017 Palmistry contributed vocals to Mr. Mitch’s “VPN,” taken from the album Devout, and appeared on a remix of Ravyn Lenae’s “Spice.” He produced Triad God’s sophomore effort, Triad, which surfaced in February 2019; Palmistry’s own Afterlife arrived that May, crediting production contributions from SOPHIE, Benny Blanco, and Cashmere Cat.
