Biography
Hailing from Hong Kong, Paul Wong built his reputation in the 1980s and 1990s as singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the rock band Beyond, only shifting focus to solo work once the new century arrived. Born locally on March 31, 1964, he entered the group in 1985. Beyond achieved widespread recognition in the late eighties and early nineties through songs such as “Dai Dei,” yet the sudden death of lead singer Wong Ka Kui in 1993 cast a shadow over their path; the band nevertheless continued performing until its official breakup in 2005. Wong launched his own recording career in 2001 with the album Yellow Paul Wong and has since issued further material on a consistent basis through Universal Music.
