Playa Limbo

Hailing from Mexico, the Latin pop ensemble Playa Limbo draws its sonic character from 1980s pop and rock. The band originated in 2003 when bassist and backing vocalist Ángel Baillo teamed with Jorge Corrales, who handled keyboards and programming. Lead vocalist and guitarist María León and drummer Servando Yáñez joined afterward. Their 2005 demo received early Mexican pop radio exposure, most prominently through the track "El Eco de Tu Voz." Often likened to Belanova, the Mexican dance-pop act fronted by a woman, Playa Limbo landed a recording agreement with Sony BMG and issued their first full-length album, Canciones de Hotel, in 2007. The set yielded several hits, among them "10 Para las 10," "El Eco de Tu Voz," and "El Tiempo de Ti," and returned to stores the following year in an edition that included bonus material.
