Biography
British conductor Mark Brown ranks among the founders and directors of the early music vocal ensemble Pro Cantione Antiqua. Working alongside tenor James Griffett, countertenor Paul Esswood, and musicologist Bruno Turner, he shaped the group’s singular identity by treating medieval and contemporary works with equal commitment. Under Brown’s leadership, Pro Cantione Antiqua has toured Europe, the United States, and the Far East while accumulating nearly 90 recordings.
