Raiche Othel Wright, a Pittsfield, Massachusetts native whose smoky vocal tone has drawn comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Sade, channels neo-soul sensibilities through her songcraft. Her recording career began with the acoustic-leaning covers EP Renditions in November 2016, followed by a songwriting debut on the more polished Drive EP that arrived in early 2019 with major-label support and refined production. The full-length Loveland surfaced in December 2023, its thirteen tracks including a reworked “Pick a Side” that featured Ty Dolla $ign.

Growing up, Wright sang alongside her siblings and mother during church services where her mother served as worship leader; by age six she occasionally seized the microphone at rehearsals. She later channeled that affinity for performance into church and school productions, then local talent shows once she reached high school. After posting a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Madness” online and receiving encouraging feedback, she continued sharing recordings. The November 2016 release Renditions, issued when she was twenty, presented graceful, soul- and jazz-inflected interpretations of material by Norah Jones, Frank Ocean, and David Bowie.

After relocating to Boston, Wright earned the support of local DJ Knock Out, who helped assemble a production team and forwarded her demo to singer-songwriter Prince Charlez; the material subsequently reached label executives. The 2018 single “Money Pies” preceded the early-2019 arrival of Drive on Genre Defying Entertainment and Island Prolific/Atlantic. In 2020 she placed two tracks on the compilation Still Home for the Holidays: An R&B Christmas Album alongside Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, and labelmate Ayanis. That same year “Pick a Side” achieved an R&B radio breakthrough, and a Ty Dolla $ign version followed in 2021. Additional 2021 releases included the collaborative “Pull It” with VEDO and Benny Benassi as well as the solo “Burn Your Clothes.” These singles paved the way for Loveland, whose contributors encompassed Aarab Muzik, Audio Anthem, and Tariq Beats.
